My procrastination project! Don't feel like sewing what I should be this weekend. I saw this blog Crazy Mom Quilts and she does a great job of explaining all of the projects that she does. I saw this one called Ragged Squares Quilt and thought I could make it pretty easily. I've always been drawn to tone on tone, and seeing all of the dark and light pinks sealed the deal.
So I went looking in my fabric bins and came up with an abundance of pink and green fabrics. When I put them together it looked pretty good, and I figured for not having to purchase much I'd be able to make this little quilt. I made some templates for the squares to make cutting quick. When I'd gotten about halfway through cutting I realized I'd be short maybe one green and one pink. Some of my choices have some additional colors….yellow and blue which I did not mind. but some were just too off. So I bought just one each of pink and green fabric. I think I can use them also either for the backing or the binding . I am debating on whether to add a border to make the whole thing a bit bigger. I like the size of this little project, but it is too small to be much use.
When I had the whole thing laid out I also realized that many of the fabrics were given to me as gifts by my kids and husband. They like to buy coordinated fat quarter bundles and give them to me. I love them and so had pretty much hoarded them and not split them up to use in any previous projects. So in looking at this one, it brings back lots of nice memories of the kids excitement giving me fabric that they had picked out "special." A nice touch.
I'll finish it up soon. Tara is deciding that she too can make one of these quilts and is thinking of a color scheme. She wants to make one and give it to me, and I can give to her this one. A good idea if she actually gets around to it! She does not love the whole cutting thing!
