Sewing on the ruffles
Spent just about the whole day sewing on the ruffles. Each velvet ruffle is lined with the color it sits next to. Each color ruffle has two layers, is gathered and finished with a rolled hem on the serger. That part was very fun! I did the front and back one row at a time to make sure that the layers matched up at all the seams. The very first satin layer is hand stitched on the velvet because I wanted the lowest level to be a bit longer, but also to be most hidden.
I can’t wait for this part to be finished. I am nervous about all the usual things…fit, skirt hang and getting the zipper in. This is going to be a two piece so I am not sweating out the bodice attachment. I still have not cut out what the underbodice will be yet….but hey, I’ve got another day or so! For more details go on over to the flickr album. I’ve written more under each photo.
