Pillows Pillows Pillows

As parents of school age children get acquainted with the waiting areas of the many activities in which their children participate, sometimes we take it upon ourselves to spruce those areas up and make them a bit more comfortable.  I have done this a few times with more or less success….but that does not stop me from trying just one more time!  My daughter has her Irish Dance lessons at Homer Center for The Arts .  http://www.center4art.org/mainmenu.html

It’s an incredible place and the Homer/Cortland NY community has worked hard to make it a thriving arts center.  You can check it out by clicking that link up there!   For a while the parents got to hang out in the Green Room for the theater.  Then we got bumped upstairs to a pretty much empty room.  Recently that room sprouted what could almost be called office type furniture.  It also sprouted a very senior couch.  Can’t tell the origins of the couch as it is covered in a dark blue sheet.  Having to wait there several hours this week during the advanced girls workshop….I was delighted to have this new(ish) couch to sit in……till I did.  Then I realized it was going to be difficult to get out of that sitting position!  The couch needed some pillows….and fast!

So the girls and I stopped at the local JoAnn’s and grabbed some fun Alexander Henry Fabric.  The walls of the room are a buttery yellow, so this Kleo palette was perfect.  The next morning I set out to make a few pillows.  Nothing fancy.  I plan on making four all together, but was able to get the first two done so I would have them to enjoy the next day.  We all liked how they came out, and they do provide much needed support.

I have a third fabric that I will use in the next two.  Will make a nice set, and really brighten up the room.  I hope they stay put so that we can enjoy them all year!
