Lots more progress

Lost part of the day to a power outage today!  Was a great storm though.

Front inside

This is the inside of the bodice front.  Each piece is interfaced.  The last one I made I serged each of the pieces, but realized that was an unnecessary step.  The seam allowance is generous enough to prevent fraying as long as the lining is well done.  I did not need to pin the pieces, it was possible to sew with just laying them as I went along.

Inside bodice lining

This is the lining.  The color is a deep black, just does not show up well in the photo.  The lining goes together the same as the front.  All of the boning get attached to the lining rather than the fashion fabric.  I’m sure that is to hide all those seam lines.

Two back sections pinned to front.

This is the front view.  The two black “wings” are the back (lining view) before being sewn.  Looks pretty good.   There is one piece of boning in the back on each side.  There normally would be two, but I’ve eliminated one to make putting in the zipper more flexible.

Finished back. Here is the back, all sewn together except for the one side where it gets turned inside out.  Will leave that open till the very end.  It get top stitched.

Finished sewing the front Here is the front all sewn!!!  There is a bit of “finishing up” but the majority of the sewing together is done.  Still the zipper, closing up the side seam, and i think I am going to topstitch down all the way around.  I just did the center panel and like how it came out.    Maybe have final pics tomorrow.
